Here are three homemade brownie recipes to choose from, including delicious coffee brownies!Anne Ploshay's Homemade Brownies 12 oz. real semi sweet chocolate chips One stick and 1 1/2 T. unsalted butter Microwave on power level 7 or 8 for about just under 2 minutes, or until butter is melted.Remove and stir brieflly until smooth. 1 3 /4 cups white sugar 1 t. vanilla Stir in. 3 eggs Stir in, one at a time. 1 1/4 cups flour 1 t. salt 1 t. baking powder Mix in. Then mix in 1 cup pecans or walnuts, if your crowd likes nuts. Bake in buttered 13 x 9 pan, at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Enjoy and wait for the rave reviews.
Old-Fashioned Brownie Recipe Makes 1 1/2 dozen 1/3 c. butter 1 c. sugar 2 well-beaten eggs 2 oz. (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate, melted 3/4 c. cake flour 1/4 t. salt 1/2 t. baking powder 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 t. vanilla extract Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream together butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add melted chocolate and blend thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Pour into greased 8-inch square pan. Bake approx. 35 minutes. Cut into bars.
Coffee Brownies Makes 16 1/2 c. boiling water 1/2 c. ground dark roast coffee 3/4 c. unsalted butter, in pieces 4 1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped 1 3/4 c. granulated sugar 1/4 t. salt 3 eggs 1 t. vanilla extract 1 c. flour 1 c. chopped nuts, optional Preheat oven to 300 F. Line an 8 inch square pan with heavy duty foil, allowing it to overlap two sides of pan (so you can lift the brownies out, after they have baked and cooled). Stir together coffee and water and add to a large microwave-safe bowl along with butter and chocolate. Cook uncovered on high for 2-4 minutes, stirring every minute, until melted. Stir in sugar and salt, then mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts and mix well. Place in foil-lined pan and bake for approx. 45-50 minutes, until sides begin to pull away from pan and toothpick inserted in center comes out with crumbs attached but not wet. Do not overbake. Cool.
