Buttercream Frosting
This buttercream icing spreads and pipes beautifully. Takes coloring well. Many old buttercream recipes included shortening, but this is all butter (and it's better!). 4 c. powdered (confectioners') sugar 1/2 c. unsalted butter 1/2 c. salted butter 1 t. vanilla extract 2 T. milk, or more Cream sugar and butter and mix in vanilla. Add the milk and beat until it is desired spreading consistency. You may want to add more milk, but do it carefully just a tiny bit at a time.
