Chocolate Sauce Recipe

Here are two easy recipes to try at home.

Grammy's Hot Fudge Recipe

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)

4 squares (4 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped

2 T. butter

dash salt

1 t. pure vanilla extract

water, as needed

Place sweetened condensed milk in saucepan over low heat, whisk in chocolate, butter and salt; stir until melted and smooth. Take off heat and whisk in vanilla. Add water 1 T. at a time if needed to reach desired consistency. Serve warm. Store lefovers in fridge; reheat on low, adding tiny bit of water if necessary.

Caramel Chocolate Sauce Recipe

Makes a little over one cup.

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. heavy whipping cream

6 oz. good quality milk or dark chocolate, chopped

1/8 t. salt

1/2 t. pure vanilla extract

In a dry saucepan over low heat, cook sugar, undisturbed, until it begins to melt. Stir with a fork while it cooks until it is pale gold. Continue to cook until sugar is deep caramel gold in color, stirring or swirling pan continuously. Remove from heat. Carefully pour cream down the side of the pan, expecting it to boil and steam! Put it back on the heat and cook, stirring, until caramel is dissolved. Whisk in chocolate and salt; cook and whisk until melted and smooth. Turn off heat and whisk in vanilla. Allow to cool to warm or room temperature before serving.

For something different, try stirring a small amount of liquour into either homemade chocolate sauce.
