Cupcake Decorating Ideas Here are some fun cupcake ideas (and some special Halloween cupcake ideas) to use with any of the
cupcake recipes:
Any delicious
cake frosting.
Try a thin layer of one, then a glaze in a different color and flavor. Candy confetti. Chopped nuts. Mini chocolate chips. Mini cookies, or animal crackers. Or homemade sugar cookies cut to your desired shape. Cookie crumbs, or graham cracker crumbs. Shredded coconut. (You can also color it.) Sprinkles. Slices of marshmallows can be used as flower petals. Edible flowers. Edible glitter, or sanding sugar. Candy hearts. Small Easter candies, or even Peeps. Jelly beans. Jordan almonds. Cut up fruit leather. Christmas candies, or mini candy canes, or crushed peppermint candy. Fresh fruit (don't add until just before serving). Before icing, cut out a little of the center of the cupcake and stuff with a strawberry or a few smaller berries. Make sure the berries are thoroughly dry after washing. Instead of fruit, stuff the cupcake with a little surprise like a small spoonful of jam or pudding. Halloween Cupcake Ideas Ground chocolate cookies on top as you would for

Ground sandwich cookies on top as you would for
Kitty Litter Cake.
Gummy worms, or if you aren't serving very young kids, you could safely use tiny toy insects. Marshmallow ghosts and/or cookie gravemarkers could go on top of Halloween cupcakes as well as Halloween cakes. Scary faces can easily be made with green cake icing "skin" (or white, or orange) with black cake frosting or melted chocolate piped on for the features. Or, use thin licorice. Candy corn works as fangs. A spiderweb design is easy to do--- just frost the cupcakes, then in a microwave, melt some chocolate chips with a little butter and stir until smooth. Transfer to a heavy-duty ziploc bag and cut a small hole in the corner of the bag. Pipe a small circle of chocolate in center of the cupcake. Pipe evenly spaced thin circles around that. Beginning with the center circle, gently pull a toothpick through circles toward outer edge. Wipe toothpicks clean. Repeat to complete web pattern.
