Yummy Yummy Date Bars

Like so many cookie recipes, these date cookies make a great gift.

Makes 2 dozen

3 well-beaten eggs

1 c. sugar

1 c. flour

1/4 t. salt

1 t. baking powder

1 1/2 c. pitted, sliced dates

1 t. vanilla extract

1 c. chopped pecans

powdered (confectioners') sugar for rolling

Preheat oven to 350 F. Beat eggs with sugar until very thick. Add sifted dry ingredients and beat until smooth. Add remaining ingredients. Bake in greased 9 x 13 inch pan for about 30 minutes. While still warm, cut into 1 x 4 inch pieces and roll in powdered (confectioners') sugar.
