halloween party food gross recipes for halloween

Yes, Kitty Litter Cake Looks Nasty
But it Tastes Good!

If you've ever seen a used cat box, you know what the finished Kitty Litter Cake will look like. Yes, that's disgusting. But that's why this is perfect if you are looking for gross recipes for Halloween! And it tastes great... any guest of yours who is brave enough to try it will love the combination of cake, pudding, and cookie crumbs.

Kitty Litter Cake

serves 16

Ingredients:

1 Spice or German Chocolate Cake Mix

1 White Cake Mix

1 package White Sandwich Cookies

1 large pkg. Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix

green food coloring

12 small Tootsie Rolls

1 new kitty litter box

1 new kitty litter box plastic liner

1 new poop scooper

check cake mix and pudding boxes for ingredients needed to make according to package directions... you don't want to find you're missing a key ingredient at the last minute!

Directions:

Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions in any size pans. Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble.

Crumble white sandwich cookies by placing in a large ziploc bag and smashing with a rolling pin, or use a food processor (you will have to scrape often, and be careful not to end up with cookie paste instead of crumbs!). Take 1/4 cup cookie crumbs (set the rest aside) and add a few drops green food coloring; mix with a fork to distribute color, or shake in a jar.

When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. Don't add all the pudding at once... you may not need all of it. You want the mixture to just be moist.

Take your washed, brand new litter box and line it with brand new plastic liner. Spoon the cake mixture into the litter box.

Put three unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable (only takes a few seconds, depending on your microwave). Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat with 3 more Tootsie rolls and bury in cake. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Scatter the green cookie crumbs lightly over the top. Heat remaining Tootsie Rolls, 3 at a time in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs. You can also shape one to hang on the side of the litter box. I don't have to tell you what this is supposed to look like!

To serve, you could place the box on a newspaper and sprinkle a few of the cookie crumbs around. Wash your brand new poop scooper and use it as your serving spoon.

There you have it! A Kitty Litter Cake to disgust and thrill your Halloween party guests.
